Momma you got this. Momma you do Momma you got this. You do. Trust in your body, it knows what to do Time will be perfect for you. Ready to meet them, they love you so much Ready to treasure their touch. Mommas before you surround you with love Trusting the strength you’re made of. Momma you got this. Momma you do Momma you got this. You do.

Did you know that there’s only one you in this big wide world?/ And it’s been said that when you came you broke the mold So I hope that as you grow you know that you’re special/ So I’ll sing you a song to celebrate your world. You can be who you are, not just a girl or a boy/ A they or a them, you can be you with joy! The only one who knows the answer is you/ You can be who you are, that’s your truth You can wear sparkles, dye your hair blue. Put on a baseball hat, do kung fu/ You could be a princess, a prince or a knight. You can be you and that’s all right But the most important part is to remember….. It’s good to be you! You can love who you love, and you don’t need to change/ You can love lots of things with a very large range You will shine your most when you’re absolutely you/ You can be who you are, that’s your truth You can love monsters, you can love art. You can be a ninja, jump and dart/ you can be silly, serious too, you can be you and we love you! because the most important part, yes the most important part, and the most important part is to remember….. It’s good to be you!

Take it a day at a time. Find the little things in life. Seek your moments of laughter, it’s what we’re after in these times. Find the friends who unite. Seek the moments of light. Take it a day at a time. Find the little things in life. Do the things that recharge. Turn off the world at large. Seek relationships that build you up, overflow your cup, not do harm. Find the joy in saying no. And it’s okay to let go. Take it a day at a time. Find the little things in life. Take time for yourself. Read a book on the shelf. Make sleep a priority because even we need our health. Take a deep belly breath. And a moment for rest. Take it a day at a time. Find the little things in life. Take it a day at a time. Find the little things in life. Seek your moments of laughter, it’s what we’re after in these times. Find the friends who unite. Seek the moments of light. Take it a day at a time. Find the little things in life. Take it a day at a time. And for now that’s just fine.

Perfectly Me 02:17
You don’t have to like me, it doesn’t change my worth,/ You can have your thoughts, I’ll continue my work My happiness is not centered on your opinion of me, so I’ll continue to be, Me! I am so free to be me. I don’t have to listen and I don’t have to try so hard/ What you want from me, it may not be in the cards But I am through with playing by the rules of someone else’s game, so I’ll step up and claim Me, I am so free to be me. I am so perfectly full of faults. And I’m finally not afraid to call them out. So perfectly me. I’ll just take a moment and I’ll think about the words/ That I choose to hear, it can color my world So what we choose to do with our time, it can change our minds or throw a lifeline. I’m gonna walk down the path that feels right for me/ Sometimes tossing aside plans laid carefully But this is all I got, not gonna waste it on something I’m not, so I’ll hop right back to Me, I am so free to be Me, I am so free to be Me…. I am so free to be me.

Just No 02:30
Boy, I’m really angry, and I’m thinking really hateful things and what I wanna do is not nice, it’s true You seem to get away with treating others like they’re playdough But I’m sick of getting squished until you get your way Can you step out of your privilege and see the world through my image This rope is growing shorter as you fray it, and so I’ll start with no. No, I’m out of favors and no, I just can’t save this for you No, you can’t just coast on my work. No, I won’t just give in as you wail and as you’re moaning Though you use your words to hurt, just no. You use every answer in the book, you wiggle to get off the hook You point at me and try to make me cry But I have the right to change my mind, you have no right in any kind To please your needs how hard you’ll try Can you step out of your privilege and see the world through my image You don’t hear me as I say it , and so I’ll go with no. No, you cannot walk on me and no can’t treat me as you please No, I don’t owe you anything Would you have this conversation, in a manner of relation If I were the same persuasion as you? Can you step out of your privilege and see the world through my image This rope has grown so short because you’ve frayed it, and so I’ll end with no No, I’m out of favors and no, I just can’t save this for you No, you can’t just coast on my work. No, I won’t just give in as you wail and as you’re moaning Though you use your words to hurt, just no. No, no, no, no…

Be Human 02:27
Be human and disagree with me. Get angry and show some empathy Cause at the end of the day, whoever has the last say is still human. Please know that we each have our trials, in stages of accept or denial Sometimes our struggles are seen, others not, don’t be mean. Be human I’d like to hope that each of us are trying our best to live a good life, so let’s take a breath Your experience matters, and so does mine, but we all can be human at the same time. Get messy, and then step away. You’ve got a good life at the end of the day. And if you don’t, lean on us. Lots can be done without fuss. Be human I’d like to hope that each of us are trying our best to live a good life, so let’s take a breath Your experience matters, and so does mine, but we all can be human at the same time. Be human and disagree with me. Get angry and show some empathy Cause at the end of the day, whoever has the last say is still human.

I’m gonna take a deep breath, I’m gonna count real slow I’m gonna flex my fingers, I’m gonna wiggle my toes. I’m gonna make myself big, I’m gonna look to the sky, I know that this will pass, I know it’ll be alright Even when I can’t find my way out Even when I want to cry and shout Even when I can’t see the end, Especially then (chorus) I know that this will pass, I know it’ll be alright Even when it doesn’t really make sense, Even when I’m feeling oh so tense, Even when it doesn’t go my way, it’s not okay.. I’m gonna take a deep breath, I’m gonna count real slow I’m gonna flex my fingers, I’m gonna learn to let go. I’m gonna make myself big, I’m gonna look to the sky, I know that this will pass, I know it’ll be alright

They were flying high, top of their game. Disaster struck, no one to blame/ They needed help and help it came, pulled them through the flame. He was really low, rock-bottom hard. He couldn’t see inside the dark./ A hand appeared out from the far. The help it warmed his heart. Pay it forward when you can. The load is lighter with a helping hand/ You don’t know when you’ll need the help, my friend. So pay it forward. ‘Round that circle of giving again. She would give all that she had. Time it turned from good to bad./Love poured out from the cracks, she fell back on many hands. Everything was running fine, until it wasn’t, hit a mine./ Searching for a lifeline. One cruel game of search and find. (Chorus) We all need some help sometimes, it’s not always good. It’s not always fine./ We all need some help sometimes. Let’s work together you and I. (Chorus) You don’t know when you need the help. Step on up when you’ve got the chance. There are others who need our help. Got it worse, in poor health./ We can share abundant wealth, turn the focus off ourselves. There are children in hospitals, recovering through it all/ We can help them big or small. Let’s hear this call… (Chorus) Forward, pay it forward. Forward, pay it forward.. You don’t know when you need the help. Step on up when you’ve got the chance. We all need some help sometimes, it’s not always good. It’s not always fine. We all need some help sometimes. Let’s work together you and I. (Chorus)

You’ve got big brown eyes that go so deep That sparkle bits of mischief, that draw me in for keeps You’ve got nice warm arms that swing me on by That keep me safe and hold me tight You’ve got everything and then some surprises Got a love that carries to the next sunrise You’ve got a level-headed look when the times get tough And I’ve got you, and that’s more than enough! You’ve got a big belly laugh that everyone can hear That makes me smile and brings us near You’ve got an inner child that plays with me That finds the time to be happy You’ve got a sense of right and wrong, and how to treat others You inspire me to be a better mother Got a moral code and a drive to give back You make me oh so proud and I trust those facts

I’m gonna grab the balloon of my mind,/ Bring it back to the present time I’m gonna shoo away the clouds of worry and anxiety/ and settle in so fine. To be in a moment with all its imperfections, not solve the future but sit with our reflections To be here right now presently grounded, how nice that sounds! (Chorus) To enjoy the unknown and toss the plans away, save the worry for another day To sit with discomfort and allow it to be. That sounds so freeing! (Chorus) I’m gonna grab the balloon of my mind,/ Bring it back to the present time I don’t know all the answers, and if you do then please don’t tell me I’d like to enjoy each moment/ that’s tossed at me Floating, Floating, just riding the breeze/ Floating, Floating, come land near me (Chorus)
11.
When I first held you so safely in my arms, and you looked at me, I’ll keep you safe from harm And as you grow up, I vow I’ll always be true, to try my best and keep showing you that Ooooo I got you. Oooo Ooooo I got you. I got you baby girl. When you’re down down down and you’re feelin’ so low, I’ll be right there, I won’t let go When you’re up up up that you’re touching the sky, I’ll celebrate you, I’ll be by your side The world seems like such a scary place, but it’s not. You place one step at a time and we’ll take what we got. Because…. (Chorus) One day I hope you sing this to a child of your own, because the world’s a better place when we share what we know And when you look in their eyes, your heart will skip a beat While this circle of life seems to play on repeat (Chorus)

I Wish* 07:25
I don’t know where to begin, but it’s clear where it ended Words were said, hearts were broken. Now we both feel alone I wish we both could just return back to how it was before we hurt Hearts full, our voices heard. To heal. Affirm. This new norm takes adjustment. I’ve learned to press pause. I’ve numbed myself to feeling harm. Can’t remember the cause. I wish we both could just return back to how it was before we hurt Hearts full, our voices heard. To heal. Affirm. Can we get there? I don’t know. We have lost our casual flow. At the crossroads, who decides? Is it worth to continue the fight? I wish we both could just return back to how it was before we hurt Hearts full, our voices heard. To heal. Affirm. To heal. Affirm. I don’t know where to begin, but it’s clear where it ended * ** *** No matter how my day is going, I will always come back home I know where I can land no matter how far I roam. I have my family around me and I don’t feel alone. No matter how my day goes, you are my home. (Chorus) Reach high like the trees and sway with me. Dig deep to the ground and listen to the sound Of the Earth and the trees in perfect harmony That’s how the world sounds when you are near me. And the best part of my day is being by your side. To join in with your laughter and to look in your eyes The best part of my day is just being with you ‘Cause when you are around, I think I’m putting down roots (Chorus)

about

Thank you for supporting this wild and beautiful project, “Be Human.” As a cancer survivor and mom of a pandemic baby (born April, 2020), life drastically changed with the 2020 CoVid pandemic. What followed was a year off of teaching to explore forests with my three children and express myself through music. I was encouraged to share my music, first at virtual open-mic nights, then through Twitch, finally resulting in the funding of this album. Long-time friend and musician Elinor joined in the spirit, and we fell upon Mik and Minnehaha Recording Company in a perfect match. Greg has added so much life with his expert drumming skills and Zach dropped some fabulous trumpet from afar. Thank you to the community who believed in my thoughts, my tunes and my mission: to create a safe space for all to feel heard and welcomed! Love, Liz (Composey)

about

Composey Saint Paul, Minnesota

I'm a music teacher and mom. I am a cancer survivor and know that I've been given more time to enjoy life to its fullest. I believe everyone deserves to be celebrated for who they are and try to be an accomplice for marginalized voices. I write songs about being good humans, self-care and asserting oneself. My music is friendly for all ages and often has a lesson in it. ... more
